Retiree breaks jackpot record with RM57mil win in Supreme Toto 6/58

PETALING JAYA: A retiree has hit the jackpot, literally. His massive RM57mil win in Supreme Toto 6/58 game has set a new record for gaming winnings in the country.

The retiree, in his 70s, said it had been hard to keep calm after he learnt of his win from a local daily a day after Wednesday’s draw.

“It was so huge a shock that I almost had a heart attack!” he said, according to a press statement from Sports Toto Malaysia yesterday.

His winning set of numbers are 2, 12, 24, 25, 32 and 33.

The retiree said he had created his winning set of numbers after diligently studying all the numbers that had been drawn before.

He said he enjoyed studying number trends and creating lucky number combinations to bet on, and spent moderate sums on number games in his free time.

Standard Chartered Credit Card Sucks! Kiasu Bank

Got an envelope in the mail from Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia today. Very discreet looking, no bank logo, no tell tale signs it is from Standard Chartered. It contains a promotional looking pamphlet/brochure with a form to fill in.

Oh, okay, it’s a information leaflet about the new credit card guidelines. How thoughtful of them.

No Unifi for me. Dang!

Things went smoothly after I applied for Unifi, the high speed broadband service by Telekom Malaysia. They called a day after I have submitted my application online. They confirms all the details and sets a date for installation. I was excited and are really looking forward to the day.

I began to do some researching on Unifi. It does not paint a rosy picture and I found reasons not to subscribe to it. The process was like a mission to find the enemy and put a bullet through its head.

Things I do not like about Unifi:

Unofficial Guide to applying Unifi online. Aka Me applied Unifi online. Hell Yeah!

The Unifi website is down the whole morning. It shows an error page whenever I click the “apply now” link. I am only able to access it in the afternoon, after office hours. It is pretty straight forward, until some parts where it gets very confusing. Outlined below are the step by step guide (sort of) on how to apply Unifi broadband online.

The reward for my effort for applying online (For a limited time only):

  1. Free installation charges.
  2. Free equipments.
  3. Free one month subscription.

Bulls, I only get the free one month subscription for applying online. The others are given free anyway, no matter how I apply. “For a limited time only” is also an ongoing sweetener. It has been like that for as long as I can remember. Better than nothing, I supposed.

Here’s the guide:

Go to Unifi’s website. Click “Apply Now” on the top right corner.

Unifi! Y U No Let Me Apply?

Unifi is the premium internet broadband service in Malaysia. It finally reached my place. I wanted badly to subscribe to it. Blood sucking price, entry level package at RM149.00 per month (add another 6% government tax). It still is the most reliable and cheapest fixed line broadband.

Excited, I went to their website looking for more info and with the intention of registering for the package. Impressively the site flashes “Video. Internet. Phone. Experience the all-new high speed broadband lifestyle.” After reading through all the mumbo jumbo, I click “Register”

This just in. Windows 8 unveiled to thousands of software developers. Windows Developer Preview is made available to the public here. You can actually download it and see how it looks like on your computer right now. How cool is that.

Well, for a start, it looks nothing like the windows we are used to. It is optimised for touch screen in an apparent battle set against iPad.
